I’ve been looking for software for my personal library. People have referred me to Library Thing, but I find it unspeakably lame, particularly in the way it handles sound recordings (which is mostly what I want it for).
Thanks to Jessamyn, I have discovered Evergreen. The user interface isn’t all I’d want, but is quite adequate, esp. since one can easily access the MARC records for the item. And it’s FREE and open-source! Now, I don’t know whether I’m up to setting up a server, let alone actually doing the cataloging (uh, finding a shelving system that works would be a good first step, eh?), but it’s a possible object of fantasy (I was never into fantasizing about unobtainable objects).
