They’re crying in the nursery…

June 2, 2010

Some poor soul offed himself (bloodying up a nice Mustang in the process), and the Record-Courier became such a battleground between people making sick jokes about it, and folks with namby-pamby moralizing, that they evidently closed comments before I encountered it.

Well, screw you, R-C; I have a blog!

It’s not “judging” to state that Christopher Poland committed a mortal sin. He stole a life that belonged to his family and to God. I would be judging and presuming to know the mind of God to speculate on where he is now. I don’t know why he did it, but I’ve had a spouse drive me to that direction, and “There but for the grace of God…”

Should they have printed the picture? I don’t know; it’s off now. It was in unnecessarily bad taste. But you know, when somebody offs themselves in public in a spectacular way, there’s no reasonable expectation of privacy.

Oh, and whiteninjatiger?

what is life a world of misfortunes of ignorance, hatred, unfair treatment to others of race or creed or perhaps impartial treatment to others. …Our world is in deep trouble let alone our country and OUR Government does absolutely nothing for US only for them. Think about that on this Memorial day and thank the Veterans for giving us the *right* to voice our thoughts.

With all due respect, veterans didn’t give me shit (well, one veteran gave me a birthday cake today, but she isn’t currently in the employ of the government). I had the right to voice my thoughts the minute I left the womb (if not before), along with the rest of my rights. Veterans have sometimes protected those rights (when not protecting the privileges of government and multinational corporations), for which I am duly thankful.

Marriott Bait-n-switch in Charlotte

May 21, 2010

Manager Jim Diehl and his staff of the Charlotte Mariott City Center have been very naughty indeed.

It seems that after several hundred NRA convention goers made reservations to stay at the Marriott and, in addition, Grass Roots North Carolina also held its “Gala for Gun Rights” on Friday night at the location. GRNC had, in fact, by all accounts carefully verified in advance that Marriott was not one of the many gun-free zones that make Charlotte a deeply undesireable city for 2A conventions and events.

Subsequent to taking payment and check-in of said guests and organization (estimated at over $100,000), on Friday night, during the Gala, Diehl and his minions posted the hotel as a no-firearms zone using quickie computer printed signs and scotch tape to hit all the entrances – instantly criminalizing those present and placing them at risk of prosecution if they were in possession of firearms on the premises.

Such prosecution would place them at risk of imprisonment, fines, and loss of their Concealed Pistol Licenses.

This has been going around all over. Marriott Corporate has been apologizing out one side of its mouth. There are various Interesting Contact Numbers at the link, if you feel so inclined.

In-your-face humor for the Brady Bunch

April 16, 2010

Another nail in the coffin of the “firearm as prosthetic penis” meme:

In the end I carry a pistol, because as impressive as my penis is, I can’t ejaculate at 1085 fps to neutralize an attacker. If I could I would go around with a big “B” on my chest. Bukkake man, justice is cumming…

It’s a situation where “hair-trigger response” might actually be advantageous.

AZ set to adopt VT CCW

The House passed it, the governor will probably sign it. That’s 3; 47 more to go.

Gun-free schools?

March 11, 2010

Federal and state law across the American landscape (and certainly here in Washington State) almost uniformly declares schools to be “gun-free zones,” yet the U.S. Department of Education is in the process of purchasing more than two-dozen short-barreled police-style shotguns which are supposed to be delivered by March 22 to an address in Chicago, IL.

And they’re supposed to match the ones they already have.

Mr. Workman sensibly asks, “Why does the Department of Education need short-barreled shotguns?” My theory: “They”, functioning as the DoE, don’t. Either there’s an off-the-books agency laundering purchases though DoE, or else they are preparing a “DoE militia” for when things go South, and paper-pushers will be pulling triggers instead (and not for long, I’d wager). Your guess is as good as mine.

Is there a zero-tolerance policy about playing Department of Education Employee in school?

Got gunz?

March 5, 2010

Americans bought about 14 million guns in 2009, based on NICS checks. Maybe fewer, as it counts all NICS checks, including declined sales. Maybe more, as multiple weapons could be on the same NICS. And of course that doesn’t count private sales, which are a wash for number of guns in civilian hands. Anyway, it’s 10% more than the previous year. To put this into perspective, this is the equivalent of one gun for each of the soldiers in the 21 largest armies in the world.

Why hasn’t any firearms trade association given Obama an award for “salesman of the year”?

“Waco Jim” Cavanaugh is retiring

March 2, 2010

I guess he wants out before TSHTF. Either that, or he’s planning to shack up with Janet Reno (who, unbelievably, is on the board of the Innocence Project).

I wonder if he’ll enter the Federal witness protection plan?

A day for John Moses Browning?

February 20, 2010

A state senator who floated the idea of commemorating Utah’s most famous gun maker with a state holiday on the same date as that honoring slain civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr. said he’ll seek another date because of backlash he faced this week.
Instead, Sen. Mark Madsen, R-Lehi, said he’ll ask veterans’ groups if they would like to share either Veterans Day or Memorial Day, and will ask the LDS Church if it’s appropriate to share the July 24 Pioneer Day state holiday with the late Ogden gun inventor John M. Browning.
Madsen said he had never officially chosen Martin Luther King Day — the third Monday in January — for his legislation, but considered it because it falls near Browning’s birthday. He blamed media reports of the idea for derailing it before he had a chance to talk with black leaders.

OK, I can see how Negro leaders would object to sharing the limelight with a Caucasian — especially since, objectively speaking, Browning’s work freed more people than MLK’s ever did. And certainly we don’t want any more stupid holidays for the ruling class. (MLK died so that Caucasian professionals could have the day off.) But Browning does deserve a holiday. Let’s make his birthday a holiday, but forbid government workers and bankers from taking that day off. It seems fitting.

Yes, they can take your guns

I hope that Mrs. Girard finds herself divorced instantly, and celibate for the rest of her miserable existence.

You can see the nose grow!

February 1, 2010

The Times quoted a White House spokesman who said, “The president believes that federal resources should not be used to circumvent state laws, and as he continues to appoint senior leadership to fill out the ranks of the federal government, he expects them to review their policies with that in mind.”

Does this mean that the ATF will take no action against the Montana Firearms Freedom Act? Or does it man that the administration can’t stop lying, even about the most trivial things?
