Race and TEA

September 16, 2009

I was listening to Hannity’s radio show on the way home last night, hoping for some scoop on the latest ACORN video (Giles and O’Keefe MUST get a Pulitzer. They won’t, given how that works, but there hasn’t been a bit of reporting this year more deserving.) And this woman called, who sounded to me to be an African-American, and asked Sean, “What do people mean when they say, “Take this country back”?  Hannity gave her the basic Tea Party argument, but he didn’t pick up on the question she was actually asking, or thinking of. Here we have a whole mess of people who are predominantly white (and thank you, all you black conservatives who are part of the movement).  They get a black President, and now they want to “Take their country back.” I can’t blame her at all for thinking “They want to take it back from us black people” as opposed to “take it back from the Marxists”.  After all, when a group of young black punks started beating people up in Akron, saying “This is our world now”, it was very clear what “our” meant.

For the record, I don’t want to “take our country back”. She can have it; she just needs to keep it out of my face. The only thing I want to take back is my personal sovereignty. The key problem is that there is enough government power to fight over. This isn’t a country for white people or black people; it’s a country for individuals. And it doesn’t seem that white racism is the problem here;  I’d like to see some statistics, but anecdotally I’ve noticed an increase in black-on-white violence, with more of it being racially motivated.

We’ve got the Senile Cracker Carpenter claiming that opposition to Obama’s policies is rooted in racism. Well, let’s compare the goings-on to the happenings during the term of “America’s First Black President” (and notice how you never hear that any more about Clinton, now that we have a mulatto holding the office?) Nobody has brought down any government buildings. Obama hasn’t been accused of murder even once, let alone several times. He hasn’t been set up with a blue cocktail dress (and this time that would work out better, as Michelle would kill him with her own two hands), nor has he (yet) faced articles of impeachment. Overall, the Right has been a lot easier on Obama than Clinton, aside from the issue of his status as an undocumented worker. Even the press has been.

Now the difference is that we didn’t have 1.7m people marching in D.C. against HillaryCare. But then, we didn’t have a “Republican Revolution” with a “Contract with America” , dishonored by politicians which were themselves revolting. We didn’t have 8 years of a center-left President spending money he didn’t have. If there’s anything that scares the bejeezus out of the Beltway crowd, it’s that the TEA folk are just about as disgusted with the Republicans as the Democrats, and can’t be fobbed off with false change in 2010. At least I hope they can’t. But I’m probably wrong.

Latest on Dorothy Richardson

August 1, 2009

…the 75 year old woman accused of beating a fawn to death with a shovel. There’s been an article on her arraignment, with a picture, and I said, OMG! She’s black!” (Why this should have surprised me, considering that it’s Euclid, is a question I am meditating upon.) So of course I had the evil thought: “Of course, it’s all racism.”

It turns out that the same thought occurred to George Forbes, local head of the NAACP:

Dorothy Richardson, 75, was treated differently by Euclid officials because she is black, NAACP President George Forbes said Friday.

“It’s a goddamn deer,” Forbes said. “It’s not a human being, it’s a deer. The way this lady is being treated is unfair.”

Euclid officials have not been impartial with Richardson, he said.

“It’s typical Euclid,” Forbes said. “It’s what they do in Euclid.”

Personally, I think it’s a lot more about class than race, as such things often are. But I never thought I’d see the day when I was agreeing with and cheering on the slimy, race-baiting Forbes.

In related (?) news, the black bear that has been wandering around Streetsboro tore a chunk out of somebody’s house. If that had been my place, I’d have been out there with shotgun slugs. Tell me, why is it that when homo sapiens invades your house, you have a right to shoot them, but when ursus americanus does so, it’s supposed to be protected?

UPDATE: I evidently inspired Beck to look into this.

There’s another similar mob going on about a 20 year old (now former) employee of Petland who drowned two injured rabbits, had her manager take a picture of her holding them, and then put it on Facebook, where PETA et al found it. She and the manager both got canned, which one can’t complain about since there’s a corporate policy against employees euthanizing animals. I even understand why they closed the franchise; it’s overkill, but I can see how it might be necessary PR (esp. if the branch was not doing well and was expendable)

What I don’t understand is the howling mob demanding to do things to a particular homo sapiens that they would not for a minute countenance being done to any other animal. It’s an odd kind of moral inversion. Other species get to be as cruel as they want to other species, and that’s just business as usual, but let a human do it, and the Iron Maiden is way too kind.

Sitrep Akron: the war has begun

July 15, 2009

Akron police say they aren’t ready to call it a hate crime or a gang initiation.

Or “a lynching in photographic negative”, let alone “RaHoWa.”

Out of nowhere, the six were attacked by dozens of teenage boys, who shouted ”This is our world” and ”This is a black world” as they confronted Marshall and his family.

The Marshalls, who are white, say the crowd of teens who attacked them and two friends June 27 on Girard Street numbered close to 50. The teens were all black.

It’s easy to dismiss this as stupid kids, or gang stuff…unless you’re the Marshall family.

The Marshalls say they fear retaliation at home or when they go outside. They are considering arming themselves, but they’re concerned about the possible problems that come with guns.

Well, having a gun would have been the thing, here, but the fear would still be there… and getting your house burned down for killing somebody’s dear baby. But if shit is going to come find you, why not shoot? This may have been inspired by pride engendered by our new Kenyan president. But as the Endarkenment and Depression 2.0 deepen, we’ll have more of this, and while it might start with protected classes, it won’t stay there. I’d hate to say that Tom Chittum was right (and anyone who would move to NY for any reason is a fool), but race war is entirely possible. Oddly, the subject of TSHTF came up at breakfast this morning, and the early music women I was with were entirely realistic and accepting about their bleak prognosis for survival. One saw her Jewishness as a target on her back — and she lives in Ann Arbor, home of “Jew U” (as opposed to “Moo U, Michigan State), easily the most Jew-friendly place in Michigan. The general policy espoused was “duck!” — stay low-profile, and hope that trouble doesn’t find you.

I’d like to believe this was a fluke, but I suspect it’s a harbinger.

White African-American faces discrimination

May 26, 2009

Here’s a good example of the sort of poison that “diversity training” causes: a Mozambiquean immigrant of Portuguese ethnicity  was forced to define himself in such a class, and he did so as “a white African American”, which brought a veritable shitstorm on his head. While I’m sympathetic to the guy’s argument (he IS a “white African-American”), you have to pick your battles.  By tenaciously holding onto that definer (when “Mozambiquean-American” is more precise), he caused himself unnecessary pain. People don’t like to be reminded that “African-American” is just a euphemism for “black”. And I have to wonder about the “black European-Americans” out there (or the white ones; does anyone definite themselves that way?) Of course, I’m the guy who marks “human” in the racial identification slot; anything more than that is an invitation to racism. Or if I’m feeling perverse, then “Confederate-American”, which isn’t a racial definition either.

Moral blackmail at St. James

May 25, 2009

The sermon had just started and I was listening intently when this 30-something black man missing half his teeth walked into the church. At St. James. the choir and organ are in back of the congregation, but at ground level instead of a loft (as St. James is basically a 1 story structure, though with a much higher ceiling than your typical suburban Roman Catholic nightclub church), so we and Fr. Crume saw the guy, while the congregation mostly didn’t. And I thought, “Whoops, here comes trouble.” Yes, that’s prejudice; he might have been there to worship (and a few dark faces would be a good thing there). But he didn’t look as if he’d come to do that, and in my experience when somebody walks in the middle of things, that’s not the intent.

Sure enough, I was right. There are three of us on the outside of the choir: Nancy in the soprani, Graham at the console, and me. So he comes to me, and sticks his hand out to shake. So I’m not going to shake his hand in church? Then, while I’m in his grip, he mumbled this long barely coherent sentence featuring the phrases “Just came up from Atlanta…haven’t eaten…money for a couple hamburgers.” I didn’t catch it all as Father was in full cry and I was trying to listen…and I was PISSED that this guy was degrading my worship experience, and just wanted to make him go away. I reached in my pocket and found a fiver (!). I gave it to him and pointed to the door. “Sir, this is not the time or the place to beg. Please leave.” and he did.

If I’d been outside the church building, I’d have argued with him. “You’re indigent, and you came from Atlanta to freaking Ohio!?” Not the time or place. Basically, I don’t understand beggars. If I were in his position, in Cleveland in May, spare-changing would be my last resort. There are edible plants, dumpsters, food banks and homeless shelters. But there’s a certain subculture where asking for money is totally acceptable and casual.

If I’d met this guy on the street, I’d just say “No”, and God can judge my discernment and charity. As far as I’m concerned, I’m doing well not to blow his head off. But when I’m in church, I feel that I have to come up with something, because otherwise I’d make the church and the religion look bad. The deal is though, if you give these guys dough because that’s what you think they think that Christians are “supposed” to do, then it just encourages them to do it more. I have to wonder whether beggars begged in church during the Middle Ages, whether in a Christian culture people actually have respect for the divine service. Plus, this was probably more about drugs than food anyway. I heard later that this same guy has been seen before.

I had meant to discuss this with Father afterwards, but he had developed some health issues in the later parts of the service, and made himself scarce. In retrospect, a better way to handle it would have been to say, “I’m listening to this sermon; you can, too. Sit down and we’ll talk about it after the service.” He might have started hitting the congregants then, but in that case, Father could have handled it if he saw fit.

I don’t expect any of my regulars will give me shit for this.  And if you’re the kind of rainbow-and-unicorn-fart Christian who wants to condemn my uncharitable attitude, show me from Scripture that God approves of begging during the sermon.

Beatings

February 19, 2009

David Kocmit alleged that he was beat up by 3 Negroes outside a strip club. The police say otherwise, based on surveillance video: he fell and broke his leg. The story doesn’t mention any other injuries, even though he was “hit in the face”. Normally, if you’re beating the pulp out of somebody, legs are not the first thing to be injured. If he lied, you have to wonder why, since this is a case where financially, it would be in his interest to tell the truth and sue the strip club. In any case, if a 27 year old man breaks a leg in a parking lot, he needs to pay less attention to his bone and more to his bones.

Speaking of beatings: what do you call one neocon being beat up in a taxi? A good start.

Anti-drillers are racists!

January 16, 2009

Hollywood’s Sundance Kid is hurting poor people.

So say some East Coast ministers and conservative activists, who took to the streets in front of a downtown Salt Lake City theater on the eve of Robert Redford’s Sundance Film Festival to accuse the actor of holding down low-income Americans with his opposition to oil and gas drilling near national parks in Utah.

The protesters, led by the Congress of Racial Equality’s national spokesman Niger Innis, suggested Redford should “relinquish his wealth” and live like a poor person. They complained that the filmmaker’s anti-drilling stance could lead to higher energy prices for inner-city residents, forcing them to accept a lower standard of living.

The clergymen prayed for Redford “to see the light” and linked his environmental activism with racism.

“The high energy prices we’re going to see this winter are essentially discriminatory,” said Bishop Harry Jackson Jr. of the Hope Christian Church in Beltsville, Md., chairman of the High-Impact Leadership Coalition, a petroleum industry advocate.

The article is a riot. Patty Henetz starts off with “East Coast ministers” (= carpetbagger troublemakers). It was a black thang, and I’ll bet that both of Salt Lake City’s black ministers were there. (One from Ogden was, as we find out wayyy down in the article) After presenting the bare bones of CORE’s argument, she spends the rest of the article refuting it,AND includes a sidebar on CORE’s political and industry connections. It’s so great that she covered both sides of the story; I’d hate to see biased coverage.

Rusty explains the cold snap

January 16, 2009

“People have been saying for years that we’d have a Black President when Hell freezes over. We will, and it has.”

Here’s what’s wrong with America

December 18, 2008

A supermarket is defending itself for refusing to a write out 3-year-old Adolf Hitler Campbell’s name on his birthday cake.

Why would somebody have to defend that? Is somebody attacking them for it? Is there somebody really exercised over some cute lil kid getting disappointed?

Karen Meleta, a ShopRite spokeswoman, said the store denied similar requests from the Campbells the last two years, including a request for a swastika.

So the Campbells went back there TWICE after being rejected? Anybody that stupid deserves to be poked in the eye. And…y’all know I have nothing much good to say about child protective agencies, and I’m not saying they have a legal mandate to do anything here. But naming a kid that is child abuse.

Quit apologizing, you San Francisco wuss.

Oh no! Memin Penguin!

July 9, 2008

Let’s see…lobby to ban a comic book that is being marketed exclusively to Mexican-Americans, because in your black culture, the main character’s visuals are offensive. Yeah, that’s the way to improve race relations.

“Mama, buy me Memín para presidente!”

“I’m sorry, niño, but los negros won’t let it be sold.”

Why don’t we just ban rap music because it’s offensive to white people? How would you like that? Where’d all that good “diversity” stuff go to?

If the Reconquista ever happens, that “unity of persyns of color” shit is getting buried along with your black asses (and our white ones).
