In the footsteps of Milosevic

CHICAGO (AP) — Impeached Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich says he’s boycotting his impeachment trial next week because the process is unfair, not because he’s being defiant.

Is that a Serbian thing, or what?

Oh man, this is good:

He said that when he was arrested on federal corruption charges, he took solace from other leaders who have been jailed.

“I thought about Mandela, Dr. King, Gandhi” and that helped him gain perspective, he said in an interview that aired Sunday on “Today.”

At least he didn’t mention Jesus … who also refused to mount a vigorous defense.

I would bet that as soon as Blogo is impeached, the indictment will be dropped. There ia no way the powers that be will allow any Obama dirty laundry to be aired in public. But then hate crime laws can also be a crime of (Talking about it but never quite getting around to do the crime). So perhaps they can hang Blogo without getting anyone elses hands dirty. It’s been fun so far anyway. LOL….Jimbo

Convicted, and barred from public office in the state, 59-0 (both votes).

I gave about 30 seconds of thought to Blago’s due process claims, and decided that they don’t apply. He wasn’t criminally tried; he was fired. The People, through their representatives, can fire even people they’ve elected, for any or no reason. In practice, malfeasance is about the only thing that will generate enough revulsion to accomplish that (else legislatures would be one eternal impeachment trial, which might be an improvement on the present state). For that reason, I am happy that it was unanimous, though some people would argue for forfeiting the impeachment because 59-0 was too brutal.
