St. Nick

Yesterday, the parts of Christendom that still care about such things celebrated the feast day of St. Nicholas of Myra. Fr. Crume pointed out that, far from being the jolly old elf (though he was short) of Clement Clarke Moore’s description, he got so irate at the Council of Nicaea that he slapped Arius in the face, earning himself a night in jail (according to legend, he was in much deeper doo-doo than that, but was essentially bailed out by Jesus and Mary.)
