Billy, you’re way too modest

“All politics in this country now is just dress rehearsal for civil war.” — Billy Beck, August 2009, as cited by Mike Vanderboegh

One of these guys the other day said that all politics is just a prelude to the ultimate and
inevitable civil war. — Bill Clinton, 4/16/10

Mike got his brags in, but you’re silent. Granted, the Dope from Hope couldn’t get the quote right, but it’s obviously yours. Take a bow already.

UPDATE: he does so, with wise commentary.

But first one must answer the question: would Billy want to be quoted by WJC? The best image for that pairing would probably be a minor second leading into a tritone, and resolving into an augmented eighth.

Even if they were born in the same state.

I think that Billy would take a certain grim satisfaction in showing up on the Prevaricator-in-chief’s radar, particularly if he thought — and I don’t think he does — that Clinton actually had a clue about where many reasonable people are at right now.

If indeed it was a reference to Billy, the importance, relevance, and insight of that statement being discusssed, at that venue, would have been the most significant progress ever acheived at the Center for American Progress.
